From an early age Claire-Louise has had a creative flair for dress making, embroidery and jewellery making, initially just designing items to suit her own tastes but later making items for others too. Her passion is creating something beautiful that someone can enjoy wearing, especially unique contemporary jewellery using glass beads, semi-precious gemstones, crystals and sterling silver.
In 2009, Claire-Louise began creating her own glass lampwork beads too, which she incorporates into her own jewellery and also sells to other jewellery designers. It all started with a thoroughly enjoyable half day’s course at Tuffnell Glass, after which she was immediately hooked. “I spend many an enjoyable hour experimenting with the different types of glass to see what new colour combinations and textures I can make and incorporate into my bead designs – I get really absorbed in the creative process and time seems to fly when I’m at the torch”.
Claire-Louise has developed her own style and is always looking for new techniques to incorporate into her designs, often taking inspiration from colour and texture found in the countryside and nature around her home in North East England. “I don’t like to re-make something unless it’s a special request for multiple items, as my customers like to know that what they’ve bought is unique. The fun and satisfaction is in making something new and beautiful and I enjoy creating something different every time.”
