| Tillerman Beads |
Art teacher Mike Poole was
introduced to lampwork by his wife Su, who wanted bespoke beads
for her own jewellery designs. Little did she know he'd become
enamoured of lampwork and insist on selling his glass art
instead of letting Su keep all the beads to herself! |

As a young girl, Sharon Reynolds saw a

| Flame
Born Beads |
I have always held a fascination
for all things creative, from fiber arts and textiles, to
ceramics and photography.
I began making glass beads during the summer of 2005 as a new
'hobby' whilst on sick
leave from my job as a project officer, supporting vulnerable
women.
My new 'hobby' took on a life all of it's own and my new career
was born. I still go back and
volunteer my services once a week though ! |

RedHotSal |
Sally Carver works out of
her studio in Hinckley in the heart of the United Kingdom and
specialises in fine & unique lampwork glass beads.
She took the plunge after many years spent working in the
Security Print Industry, as a Holographer. She enjoys finding
out about the properties of glass, the colour reactions, and
the, well, physics of bead making, but it's also fantastic to
apply this knowledge to a beautiful and creative end. She says
"Bead making has really taken off in the UK in the last year or
two and I'm sure that anyone who has had a go at making their
own glass bead will agree that it is a wonderful way to express
yourself and release that pent-up creativity."

Crafted Gems |
Caroline Hannon became interested
in lampwork beads after many years of making jewellery.
After not being able to find the exact beads she wanted,
Caroline started to look at the idea of making lampwork beads
herself. Caroline was at a bead fair when she saw a lampworking
demo, shortly after she took a class with Mike Poole and has
been hooked ever since. Caroline creates all her beads in her
studio in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. |

| Mari
Hughes |
Mari has been making jewellery
from silver and gold since she was in school. She did a degree
in 3D design in Sheffield where she specialised in
silversmithing and jewellery. She loves working with glass
because although it is an ordinary, everyday material it can be
transformed by skill and craftsmanship into a treasured
possession. That is why she approaches her bead making with the
same eye for detail and quality control as if she were working
in silver or gold. Mari lives and works in Cardiff, South Wales. |

| Jan
Jennings |
I have had an interest in creative art all my life, including
watercolour
painting, stained glass and sculpting, but after an amazing
visit to Venice
and the Murano glassworks my attention became completely focused
on making jewellery and eventually my own lampwork beads. I live
within the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and it is from
these beautiful surroundings and a love of nature and flowers
that I gain much of the inspiration for my work. Melting glass
provides me with a special medium from which I can take great
pleasure in creating my own unique, one-of-a-kind little pieces
of art! |
